Dr. Cynthia MacKenzie joined the AVMA Trust staff in 2017. She represents the Trust around the country and works with veterinarians and veterinary students to raise awareness of insurance offerings and risk management solutions in addition to reviewing all species veterinary malpractice claims and consulting with veterinarians going through difficult claim situations.
Prior to joining the Trust, Dr. MacKenzie held several industry positions as well as worked in private equine practice in San Juan Capistrano, California and Lexington, KY.
Dr. MacKenzie received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University and has been very active in organized veterinary medicine holding several leadership positions. In addition to being a longstanding AAEP member, Dr. MacKenzie is also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), Texas Veterinary Medical association (TVMA) and Christian Veterinary Mission (CVM). As part of CVM, Dr. MacKenzie has participated in numerous trips to Nicaragua to teach
sustainable agriculture and veterinary education to health care promoters in
remote areas of the country.
Dr. MacKenzie lives in McKinney, TX with her husband and their spoiled rotten Borador dog, Delta.
