Dr. Charlène Pigé, originally from France, has a lifelong passion for horses and equestrian sports, especially show jumping. She grew up riding and competing in show jumping, and particularly enjoyed training and improving the performance of sport horses.
Dr. Pigé received her DVM degree from the School of Veterinary Medicine in Nantes, France, in 2017. She then completed a one-year rotating equine internship at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Montréal in Canada. Afterward, she worked as an equine ambulatory veterinarian in southern France until 2019. She then moved to California to pursue an equine sports medicine internship at the University of California, Davis. Following this, she stayed on at UC Davis for a four-year residency in equine radiology, becoming board certified by the American College of Veterinary Radiology - Equine Diagnostic Imaging (DACVR-EDI) in 2023.
Currently, Dr. Pigé is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Large Animal Diagnostic Imaging at UC Davis, where she divides her time between radiology, ultrasound, and advanced imaging for large animals. Her research centers on equine musculoskeletal imaging, with a particular focus on the use of Positron Emission Tomography (PET) to advance diagnostics in race and sport horses.
