Dr. Jean-Yin Tan is a board-certified equine internal medicine specialist, holds a Master of Business Administration, and is an Associate Professor of Teaching and Chair of the Clinical Skills Program at the University of Calgary.
After graduating from Cornell University in 2005, Dr. Tan completed an internship at Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center in New Jersey, a large animal internal medicine residency at University of Minnesota, and a fellowship at UC Davis. After spending some time in private practice, she was Managing Partner and owner of an equine veterinary clinic in Upstate New York, prior to joining University of Calgary in 2015. At University of Calgary, she has started unique clinical partnerships with Indigenous communities and teaches equine medicine, business, and clinical and professional skills.
A winner of the 2019 AAEP Good Works for Horses award, she was named one of Avenue Calgary’s Top 40 Under 40, received the University of Calgary Teaching Award for Educational Leadership in 2021, and Vet Candy’s Veterinary Inspiration Award in 2022.
