Dr. Erin Contino grew up in Northern California, where she was an avid eventer and graduate "A" of the Morgan Territory Pony Club. She attended UC San Diego and earned her BS in equine sciences from Colorado State University (CSU) in 1999. After graduation, she managed a large three-day eventing barn on the East Coast for several years before returning to CSU, where she earned her Master's in 2009 and her DVM in 2010. After completing a one-year internship at Pioneer Equine Hospital in Oakdale, California, Erin returned to CSU for a three-year residency in equine sports medicine and rehabilitation followed by a one-year fellowship in equine musculoskeletal ultrasound. She then joined the CSU faculty and is currently an associate professor in equine sports medicine and rehabilitation. Her clinical and research interests include diagnosis and treatment of lameness and poor performance in equine athletes. She is very involved in the local three-day eventing community, the American College of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, and the American Association of Equine Practitioners.
