Dr. Stacy Tinkler is the Peru Project leader for the Equitarian Initiative, a role she has enjoyed since 2018. She has been volunteering in Peru annually for the past 11 years, but it was her first trip to Northern Peru as a student in 2003 where she discovered her passion for international veterinary medicine. She has a particular interest in sustainable veterinary and para-veterinary program development and community education dedicated to working equids and their caregivers in partner communities in Latin America.
Dr. Tinkler is the former Head of Veterinary Services at The Donkey Sanctuary Ireland, where she worked for the past several years since 2022. Prior to this role, Stacy worked in Large Animal Internal Medicine, Equine Community Practice and as a Continuing Lecturer at Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine since 2011. Since graduation from the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005, she completed a 1-year internship at Chaparral Animal Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, a large animal internal medicine residency in 2010, and a Master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Minnesota in 2014. Dr. Tinkler loves to be outside, to travel and loves how animals and their care unite and bond people from all over the globe.
