Sarah is originally from Roberts Creek, BC, Canada. She holds a BSc from Simon Fraser University and a veterinary degree from the University of Saskatchewan (1999). After completing a 2-year internship/residency in Field Service and Sports Medicine at New Bolton Center (University of Pennsylvania), she pursued a 4-year residency in diagnostic imaging at UC Davis, earning board certification from the American College of Veterinary Radiology in 2004.
Sarah served as a faculty member at UC Davis in the Department of Surgical and Radiological Sciences, where she earned tenure in 2012. During her time there, she contributed to research, clinical teaching, and co-authored over 40 scientific papers as well as book chapters relating to diagnostic imaging in veterinary medicine.
In 2013, Sarah founded Puchalski Equine Inc., an equine teleradiology service, which now includes a team of ACVR and ACVR-EDI Diplomates. The business is based in Gibsons, BC, on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, with a winter presence in Wellington, FL, during the Winter Equestrian Festival. Formerly an avid show jumper competing in amateur owner divisions, Sarah now enjoys owning show jumpers in various locations and continues to be involved in the sport.
