Martha Mellish graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) in 2005 and gained her American College of Theriogenologists Diplomat status in 2013. Her career transitioned from private practice equine ambulatory in Virginia to a clinical faculty position in 2017, when she returned to AVC in Prince Edward Island, Canada. Her professional interests include teaching and practicing in equine theriogenology. She has recently focused her international development and research efforts on working donkey welfare in Meru County, Kenya, through her association with a Canadian based volunteer group, Farmers Helping Farmers. She is married to a wildlife veterinarian with 2 children and is an avid dressage rider, competing up to the Prix St Georges level.
